The Sylvania BT Clock Radio, model SCR1986BT-AS, has the option for two separate wake-up times so you can set different hours for weekdays and weekends. You can rise and shine with your favorite tunes on a local station or a buzzer if you prefer. The Sylvania clock radio with the auto-set dual alarm clock also offers USB charging so you can keep your phone, tablet or other devices by the bed.
When you set it to your local time zone, it automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time when applicable. Stream music with your favorite BT-enabled device on this USB charging clock radio. There is also a sleep function that plays your music and shuts off the sound in 10 to 90 minutes. The Sylvania BT Clock Radio, model SCR1986BT-AS, even has a display dimmer for lowering brightness at night. Almost returned it after reading the negative reviews but figured I'd at least give it a shot and try to set it upI plugged it in and it automatically set the time! To save myself frustration I immediately used the instructions to set the alarm, not hard to follow their examples but certainly not intuitive. I was able to preset my favorite radio station and connect my bluetooth without the manual.
Love the compact size, radio, and bluetooth connection for such an affordable price. Good bye cell phone alarm!I took off one star because it isn't intuitive and it doesn't sound like a bose speaker (obviously). Good bye cell phone alarm!I took off one star because it isn't intuitive and it doesn't sound like a bose speaker (obviously). I bought this online, so was a little surprised on the size, thought would be a bit larger. Should have paid more attention to the dimensions, however it does save room on the nightstand.I especially like the USB charging port, and the clock has many of the features I was especially looking for, with 2 alarms and the ability to set alarms for Mon-Friday and a different one for the weekend, so I do not have to turn to remember to reset it Sunday night.I did find it a bit difficult to operate and get use to it.
The function buttons are completely flat to the surface, so in the dark and reaching over from bed, you are not sure which function you are pushing or exactly where the button is. As well as having to look down on it to see the function description of the button. I often found myself going through multiple steps to accomplish what I wanted as I started with the wrong button. The Display dimmer is great at night, so as to not be intrusive, however if you do not return it to normal display during the day it is almost unreadable in normal light and any distance from it.
I read the bad reviews. I thought to myself 'I'm a savvy technology professional. These reviewers are all probably old folks who can't set the clock on their microwave.' This product is truly terrible. I would like to ask the designer of this product a few questions:1. Are you a non conformist?
Good for you. However, some basic conventions for these kinds of devices were set up a few decades ago. I actually had to read the instructions to set the alarm. Congratulations, you made me read the instructions for a simple electronics product for the first time - ever.2.

Why did you think a clock radio should only be operated in daylight? You made identical indicator lights for lots of things (AM/PM, radio/buzzer, daylight savings on/off, etc). However, the labels for each of these are not visible in the dark.3. Did you fear there was a patent on common sense you might infringe upon? Perhaps this explains the use of the same button for multiple, totally unrelated functions.
Want to turn off the radio/alarm? Just hold down the power button for 3 seconds. Oops, you only sleepily tapped the button - sorry, you are now in Bluetooth mode. Only 3 more taps and a 3 second hold to set things right again.4. Why did you assume everyone wants to listen to the radio at full volume?
I set my radio volume at a normal, tolerable to humans level. Why did you make this device totally ignore the previous setting each time the alarm goes off?5. Why does the colon blink?
Was simply displaying '10:35' not exciting enough? You had to make the colon blink?6. Did you just so hate being assigned to the very unsexy clock radio project that you decided to take it out on the company? I ask because you could have just phoned this in.
Clock radio design reached its apex around 1985. You really had to do no work.

You put effort into making this product worse.7. Did you design this after a conversation over drinks where one of your buddies asked 'What if at every decision point you did the opposite of what made sense? What would that look like? That would be awesome!'
If so, congratulations. You managed to make this product as terrible as possible while still technically functioning enough to make it past quality control and onto store shelves. Kudos my friend! I usually check reviews before I purchase, but failed here.
Like 99% of the people who own this clock the frustration with setting the alarm will set your temper on fire. To access setting the time or the alarm you are instructed to 'turn of the power' which is a FUTILE direction. You cannot turn off the power and are left spending a half an hour or more trying to get the alarm set leaving you wanting to smash the thing with a hammer. TOTALLY USELESS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!
I've emailed the company but have yet to hear back from them. I am sure that if others have emailed I have not told them anything they haven't heard.but GOOD GRIEF! I have vowed to NEVER purchase a Sylvania product again.KEEP LOOKING! THIS IS NOT THE ALARM CLOCK YOU WANT. IT IS HORRIBLE. INSANELY HORRIBLE. I HATE THIS CLOCK.

As almost everyone else has said, this is the most frustrating clock ever to set up. And, even if you do get it set up to your liking, pray you wont ever have to change something, because it is just as hard to figure out the second time. The instructions do not match the product, and as stated how little or lot you push on certain buttons changes everything. But my biggest complaint is the ascending alarm. My old alarm did this, but at a gradual pace. This alarm goes from low to ear piercing in seconds (before you can turn over and turn it off) and when you turn it off, if you don't turn it down, it will start at the loud state it ended in.
I think it could seriously do damage to you ear drums if you don't shut it off soon enough. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought it, but I was in the store looking and it sounded good. Lesson learned, read reviews before you buy! Like many others who have reviewed this abysmal piece of trash, mine ended up smashed on the floor in a futile attempt to simply set the time after the DST time change. This has got to be the absolute WORST attempt at engineering in the past 100 years. Completely UNINTUITIVE and a hassle to try to attempt anything as far as setting this to do what you want. No less than 8 times did I try to set the clock and it would default BACK to the time I tried to change it from.
I seriously ripped it out of the AC cord and smashed it on the ground. THAT'S how frustrating this thing is. The speaker sounded terrible anyway. I swear to NEVER buy anything manufactured by Sylvania EVER AGAIN for my entire life!!! Not even worth one star. Would give it ZERO if I could. Now I have to go buy a new clock and hopefully one that will allow me to set it hassle free and within a minute.'
